Role

Do you have a strong passion for data and analytics, using coding languages and creative thinking to influence policy decisions? If the answer to this is ‘yes’ then we have a great opportunity for a Senior Analyst within the analytical team at TPR.

We are looking for someone who can work directly with stakeholders to lead on analytical products. You will be responsible for owning and producing one of our official statistics reports. You will also lead on key analytical projects including:

  • Metric design to measure good governance of pension schemes.
  • Forecasting future demand for defined contribution decumulation products.
  • Understanding how the pensions market is changing and providing evidence to support the teams setting our policy on scheme consolidation.
  • Supporting the analytics team migration to a new data warehouse.

You will also have the opportunity to manage a junior analyst within the team, supporting or leading on their project delivery and will be responsible for their professional development.

Responsibilities

The senior analyst role is pivotal to ensuring TPR makes evidence-based decisions. You will:

  • lead and manage analytical projects, coordinating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries, including managing expectations and engaging multidisciplinary teams
  • support your direct reports on their projects, providing direction and technical support. Help them develop their careers
  • proactively identify, design and deliver analysis of complex data sets to inform the delivery of the project, including making recommendations on the basis of your analysis.
  • use a range of programming languages to manipulate large and complex datasets, and produce robust statistical outputs
  • independently deliver a range of analytical outputs, in a range of delivery formats, each best suited to the audience e.g. statistical models, time series analysis, forecasting, scenario analysis.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Proficiency in application of R or Python, and Power BI or Tableau.
  • Able to robustly evaluate data sources for suitability, reliability and accuracy for inclusion in analysis. Experience manipulating big data and quickly getting up to speed to understand the contents and structure of a complex data warehouse.
  • Able to co-ordinate and collaborate with stakeholders as an analytical expert, to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Possesses strong communication skills to be able to disseminate complex analysis clearly and arcuately across TPR to a non-technical audience.

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of the UK pensions industry.
  • Experience in line management.
  • Practitioner level knowledge of Git and GitHub.
  • AzureDevOps, and AGILE or Dev / DataOps workflow methodologies.
