The recent regulators meeting with the Chancellor

FOI reference - FOI-346
Date - 23 January 2025

Request

I note that the Government announced that 17 regulators were brought together recently under the auspices of Rachel Reeves to discuss encouraging economic growth. The 17 regulators have to report back to the Treasury on their plans in this regard as set out in the announcement by the Treasury and Rachel Reeves: Chancellor calls on watchdog bosses to tear down regulatory barriers that hold back growth - GOV.UK

My question is whether The Pensions Regulator (TPR) was one of the 17 regulators who attended this meeting and is required to report back on its growth initiatives?

Response

I can confirm TPR did not attend the meeting referenced.

However, as with other regulators, TPR is engaging with the government as it considers ideas which could help drive growth. Our primary focus in this work is to deliver good outcomes for workplace pension savers.
